The Freedom 30 is a Gary Mull design which was intended to make a statement. There are no Shrouds, There are no Spreaders, There is no Backstay, just a free standing Carbon Fiber Mast. This allows for the Square Top, Huge Roach, Fully Battened Main Sail and a Fully Battened Jib that is Self Tacking and on it's own Boom forward. Generous accommodations for a 30 foot boat is also a plus with a warm wood interior it looks like a Yacht should.
