Hull Construction
  • Batten seam construction, appx 5/8” thickness
  • Upper side planks: Mahogany
  • Lower side planks Cedar
  • Double planked flat bottom – transverse inner, longitudinal outer, epoxy bonded, bronze fastened
  • :Wooden fin-keel with 1000lb cast lead shoe fastened with stainless thru-bolts
  • Wooden skeg partially supports removable teak and plywood rudder, tiller steered
  • Thru-hull fittings below waterline bronze and valved

Opal is a 24’ custom dory ketch with gaff rig and a 4 foot bowsprit. She was built to an extremely high standard, from plans drawn by renowned Northwest designer, Ted Brewer. She’s been lovingly maintained throughout her history by responsible owners.

Absolutely beautiful inside and out, she won the “People’s Choice” award at the 2003 Seattle Wooden Boat Show.
